Very High Frequency Omni Range (VOR)

VOR - Very High Frequency Omni Range - stations are located all over the country. The VOR has been the primary means of navigation for many years and is slowly being outdated by GPS position sensors.

VOR's are used to calculate FMS position by acquiring a distance and a bearing from a station. Acquiring position from VOR's is more accurate than DME but less accurate than IRS.
